About Pregnant Girls Services and Pregnant Girls Hostel
The mission of our Pregnant Girls Services is to provide “a safe place where pregnant girls in crisis are embraced, equipped and empowered for a hopeful future”. PGS provides pregnant teens with the tools and comprehensive programs to break the generational cycle of abuse and neglect. We know from our history that the more time we are able to spend with the girls ahead of the birth of their child, the more successful they are in transitioning back to the community.

Today, with 14 staff members and 25 volunteers, our overriding goal is to help each young girl take ownership of her life so that she will make the best possible choices for herself and her baby.

Our hostel is filled with love, warmth and acceptance for all girls who call Mother’s Choice their home. Many of our girls have been living from friend to friend, on the streets, or with unsafe individuals. Many have also been mistreated, neglected and abandoned so this will be the first time in a long time where they can safely go to sleep. When pregnant, they become increasingly vulnerable. Coming from disorganized and chaotic homes, these young girls are in need of a safe, stable and structured shelter. Position Description
We are looking for an Assistant Manager, PGS Hostel, to supervise the running of a residential home to young pregnant girls and mothers, in full accordance with all regulatory and standards requirements, overseeing the day-to-day smooth running of the hostel and care for the wellbeing and care of the residents.

The ideal candidate will have past experience of overseeing a 24X7 operation and working alongside at risk youth. He/she should have a deep commitment to the Mother’s Choice vision, mission and values, strong spirit in collaboration and partnership, and solid experience of operations within a charity sector.

Key Responsibilities
• Support Vulnerable Girls: Partner with Assistant Manager, Case Management PGS Services, to review the progress of clients during their stay at the hostel, providing feedback and observations to enhance the casework provided to clients and identify needs and strengths.
• Strategic Planning: Together with the Manager, PGS, develop a strategic plan for the PGS hostel in line with the Mother’s Choice Vision, Mission & Values and “Vision 2025”. Contribute to good practice standards by identifying and rectifying service gaps.
• Policies and Procedures: Develop, review and document hostel policies and protocols to ensure consistent and sustainable operations of the hostel and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients, staff and volunteers.
• Program Development: Work together with Youth Services, Children Services, Family Services and external providers to design and source programs to meet the needs of our girls in order to reach target outcomes.
• Volunteer Engagement: Collaborate closely with the Volunteer Engagement team to design and schedule volunteer programs and to manage and engage

• Facilities & Operations: Monitor safety and wellbeing of young people served while ensuring living environments and program activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements and agency standards by partnering with the Facilities and Administration team to ensure that the hostel environment is safe, healthy, and well running. Collaborate with the fundraising team to raise grants for necessary and desired. Draft annual hostel budget and monitor on-going expenditure budgets.
• Staff Supervision & Training: Provide coaching and feedback to hostel staff. Conduct informal and formal performance discussions, and annual performance reviews. Work closely with the Supervisor, Residential Care, to identify the topics and areas which require staff training.
• Emergency Support: Provide on-call assistance to hostel staff during emergencies such as crisis management. Responsible for addressing and handling all emergencies; assist with conducting investigations and cooperating with police, fire and emergency response teams; file reports and additional
paperwork as needed.
• Impact Measurement: Collect, analyze and interpret data to help hostel staff to be of service to our clients.

• At least seven years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in counseling / guidance/ teaching / or health care services for at-risk teenagers, of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory capacity.
• Knowledge and skills to work with at-risk teenagers.
• Ability to interact with escalating youth and/or parents in a calm and professional manner.
• Ability to display cultural competence by responding respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions and other diversity factors in a manner that recognizes, affirms and values the worth of each client.
• Ability to respond appropriately and professionally in crisis situations.
• Past experience overseeing operations of a 24x7 center an advantage.
• General knowledge of budget concepts and formulation.
• Ability to prepare final reports using proper writing skills.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple complex tasks, strong professional communication and team work.
• Proven ability to work as a member of a team, fostering the confidence and co-operation of others within the values of the organization, and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Must share the commitment of Mother’s Choice in upholding the safety and protection of children as paramount.
