Enrich is an award winning, dynamic charity working to promote the economic empowerment of migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong. Established in 2007, Enrich provides financial literacy, business development and empowerment education programmes that allow migrant domestic workers to take greater control of their finances and secure the future for themselves and for their families. Chief Operating Officer

 We are ideally looking for someone able to start immediately and with the right to work in Hong Kong.

Position Description:

Enrich is seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Chief Operating Officer. This position reports directly to the Executive Director, and where relevant, will work with the Board of Directors.

 

Purpose of role

Following a period of rapid growth and as we move forward into a new strategic period, we are looking for a part-time Chief Operating Officer to strengthen our internal operations and governance. This role requires a candidate with appropriate operational skills, but above all, strong project management skills, attention to detail and an ability to work with volunteers and experts in areas of governance, legal and finance, to strengthen and implement new policies and systems to transform our operations. This is a part time role, for ideally 2-3 days a week. This role would be ideal for someone looking to transition into the non-profit sector and to use their skills to create meaningful impact for a vulnerable population in Hong Kong. 

 

The ideal candidate 

You are someone who has a strong attention to detail, is highly organised and enjoys working both independently and as a part of a team. You have strong project management skills, and enjoy working with systems and developing policies. You have a passion for maintaining and strengthening internal controls. You may have a background in governance, compliance, financial management, operations and/or legal but above all you are excited to work with volunteers and experts in these fields to deliver change. You are proactive, very happy to be hands on and roll up your sleeves, conscious of the realities of working in a small NGO. You are keen to use your skills to create change, in a multi-cultural team and deliver real impact for a vulnerable group in Hong Kong. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 Governance

  • Leads on all governance and compliance issues at Enrich, in line with non-profit governance regulations in Hong Kong, including developing and implementing policies, practices and procedures across the organisation.

  • One area of priority is to develop new policies on data collection and storage, review existing systems and implement any necessary changes across the organisation to ensure data and documents are handled appropriately. 

  • Keeping abreast of latest development and changes in relevant governance policies for non-profit organisations, and able to independently implement relevant changes and make recommendations where appropriate.

  • Manage all relevant volunteers and advisors on governance related areas. 

  • Ensure no conflicts of interest across the organisation 

  • Approving any changes that relate to disclosures, policies, ethical considerations and conflicts of interest

  • Working with the Executive Director, oversee risk assessment and management 

 

Operations and administration 

  • Manage operations and continuously improve operational policies and procedures in place, including but not limited to HR, finances, IT and legal.

  • Support the Enrich team and Executive Director with implementation of relevant policies, providing additional training and expertise where required. 

  • Manage relationships and contracts with relevant third party vendors, related to operations, including but not limited to operational support (eg. procuring IT support), and external advisors. 

  • Supporting the Executive Director with HR functions including recruitment, development, performance reviews and relevant trainings.

  • For candidates with relevant financial management, support existing finance staff on financial aspects of operations, including but not limited to annual budget, monthly management accounts and financial forecasts, compliance with relevant HK reporting requirements and tax filings. Make recommendations where relevant of improving financial policies with regards to internal controls.

  • Support internal operations and implementation of processes where required.

 

Essential:

  • Strong project management skills

  • Experienced and well-organised leader with strong people, organisational and analytical skills. Solutions focused and collaborative, and able to work in a multi-cultural environment.

  • At least 10 years experience with either professional services firm, corporate or an NGO

  • Knowledge of systems and technology, including Xero and Google Drive, proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

 

Desirable:

·         Fluency in spoken and written Cantonese;

·         Experience working with the NGO sector

·         Experience with financial management
