​Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is recruiting a Donor Development Associate (LICA 6) carrying an external title of “Donor Development Manager”, will provide day-to-day coordination of donor developments projects. This position will focus on developing relevant, engaging and targeted communications to key groups of UNHCR donors with a view to increasing loyalty and growing income from the donor database.

This position is a UNOPS position with a contract which is renewable each calendar year.

• Education
o High school/ secondary diploma; or Completion of Tertiary Education, degree is desirable in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Social Science or related field. Candidates with a degree in other disciplines with a proven relevant professional record will also be accepted.
• Work Experience
o Minimum three (3) years of working experience with high school diploma, two (2) years with Undergraduate/ Bachelor’s degree, or Graduate/ Master’s degree as a marketing/customer service/ fundraising specialist.
o Minimum three (3) years of proven experience in private sector fundraising to individuals or direct marketing in a business to consumer environment
• Key Competencies
o Technical knowledge of how to carry out private sector fundraising or business to consumer, donor/customer retention and development
o Strong copywriting, editing and copy evaluation skills in order to help draft donor retention communications
o Experience in the day-to-day coordination of multiple projects
o Ability to conduct research and identify relevant content for the development of engaging donor/customer communications
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills
o Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English
o Customer service oriented
o Attention to details, high accuracy and result oriented
o Statistical and mathematical competencies
o Experience working with direct mail, tele-marketing and email marketing fundraising channels
o Knowledge of customer segmentation and analysis approaches
o Experience in training fundraising or sales representatives in telemarketing agencies
o Experience of coordinating the day-to-day work of suppliers

Under the functional guidance of Assistant PSP IG Officer (Donor Care), this incumbent’s responsibilities will include:
o Work closely with PSP Officer and Assistant PSP IG Officer (Donor Care), in the creation of annual plans for the middle donor development programme 联合国难民事务高级专员署
o Devise and implement donor development communication plans and fundraising activities for middle donor, such as newsletters and special appeals, through a variety of media including direct mail, telemarketing, email and phone
o Carry out day-to-day coordination and communication with suppliers that support the donor development programme including telemarketing and direct marketing agencies, printers, designers and freelance copywriters
o Liaises with and updates all UNHCR PSP teams on donor development activities and maintains regular contact with the HQ Fundraising Communications team and the HK donor acquisition team to gain insights that help build more relevant donor development communications
o Plan and execute the middle donor development programme and act as a focal point for communications from this group of donors
o Provide functional guidance to the donor care assistants, ensuring they implement the middle donor care programme effectively and efficiently with relational approach
o Facilitate move management between middle donor and individual giving donor and/or major donor
o Ensure all in-house and outsourced donor care representatives are provided with all information, including Q&A documents, necessary to handle any in-bound donor communications resulting from the donor development activities professionally
o Deliver relevant training for any suppliers contracted to work on behalf of PSP Hong Kong
o Under the supervision of the Assistant PSP IG Officer (Donor Care) and in conjunction with the Database Team coordinates any relevant reporting and analysis of donor development activities to evaluate performance and enhance future communications
o Support UNHCR's donor care and fundraising events
