​Feeding Hong Kong is the first Hong Kong food bank dedicated to rescuing surplus food from retailers, distributors and manufacturers and redistributing it to people in need. We aim to fight hunger and reduce food waste in Hong Kong.

Job purpose:

  • To oversee all finance, accounting and reporting activities of Feeding Hong Kong (FHK);

  • To lead the day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and grants administration;

  • To ensure systems and procedures are in place to support effective programme implementation and conduct audits;To partner with senior leadership to enhance and better integrate finance and IT functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements;

  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs and programme budgets and actual expenditures;

  • Coordinate all audit activities and ensure records are compliant with requirements;

  • Analyse financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of Feeding Hong Kong’s financial status;

  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate;

  • Oversee all financial, project/programme and grants accounting, and ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and programme budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants;

  • Refine and update the financial policies and procedures manual;

  • Additional controller duties as necessary.



  • Assist with other activities of the organisation as required.


  • Be accountable and report to the Chief Executive Officer;

  • Supervise volunteers and interns when needed.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge


  • Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field; CPA or CMA preferred;

  • Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment.


Experience of:

  • Coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments;

  • Developing or improving financial management systems;

  • Grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants.

 Able to:

  • Work unsupervised and organise a demanding workload;

  • Juggle multiple priorities and to deliver under pressure;

  • Work accurately, paying close attention to detail; Effectively analyse and communicate key data to senior management, the board of directors and other  partners;

  • Speak and write fluent English.


Knowledge of:

  • Accounting and reporting software, notably Xero and Salesforce;

  • Cantonese advantageous.
