Branches of Hope is a registered Charity organization in Hong Kong that operates under two branches - The Refugee Opportunity and Development (ROAD) Program that supports refugees and asylum seekers, and the Stop Trafficking Of People (STOP) program that supports the survival of human trafficking.
The ROAD Program at Branches of Hope aims to equip, educate, and empower refugees and asylum seekers to become self-sufficient.We provide opportunities to refugees to develop their skills, enhance their wellbeing and flourish in society.
The position is full-time and reports to the Head of ROAD. The person will work from Mondays to Thursdays and Saturdays. In addition, the incumbent will occasionally work on Sundays.
Role and Responsibilities:
Student Education Support:
Plan and implement tutorials classes for primary and secondary school students
Assist Teachers and Volunteers during in house tutorial classes.
Work with tutors to develop educational materials for the students
Develop and implement homework support program
Promote ROAD educational program among refugees in Hong Kong
Plan and implement strategic extra-curricular activities that meet the social, educational, and emotional needs of the students
Work with schools, organizations and corporations to enhance students' knowledge through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Plan and develop youth integration programs within the society such as but not limited to sports, community services and leadership
Enhance youth engagement within ROAD programs and create meaningful participation of youth-related activities such as youth-serving day, youth talks and youth cultural exchange program
Plan and implement mentorship programs for youth for skills development.
Plan and implement peer to peer support programs for the youth among the refugee community
Training and Employment:
Plan and implement soft skills training for employment
Manage the refugee employment scheme of the ROAD program
Assist recognized refugees in searching and applying for job and work permit
Lead the planning and coordination of ROAD Summer School and Easter School programs.
Assist in coordinating ROAD Christmas Celebration, Chinese New Year, and World Refugee Day.
Management and Administrative:
Recruit, train and manage volunteers
Take attendance and manage classroom activities
Manage a team of young leaders to lead the youth development program
Attend education-related meetings with local NGOs and partners
At least a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Preferably Social Science or Education related.
At least two years working experience with refugees and asylum seekers or have a refugee background (recognized refugee), ethnic minorities or vulnerable youth.
Knowledgeable about the educational, social, and emotional needs of young refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong.
Good English language skills; speaking and writing. Have a good knowledge of one of the common languages among the refugees` community (French, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, etc.) is an advantage
Good knowledge of PowerPoint presentation, excel and google spreadsheet
Demonstrate good communication and management skills with an excellent team spirit.
Culturally sensitive and able to work with vulnerable children and youth.
