As soon as possible
Race for Education Accessibilities for Every Child (“REACH”) is a tax-exempt charity whose mission is to create a reading movement amongst primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong.
It is our belief that the ability to read and the cultivation of a reading habit are essential to children’s academic and overall life-long development. Unfortunately, many children from low socioeconomic status families lack exposure to proper reading and education resources in Hong Kong. Children from these families are more susceptible to reading difficulties as they develop language skills more slowly, showing delayed abilities in letter recognition and phonological awareness. These children are more likely to shy away from education as they get older, limiting their academic development, and deterring them from socio-economic advancement.
We take a two-pronged approach – We work with both Teachers and Students. REACH works closely with school teachers to co-design curriculum including exercises and class materials which will be executed as part of the core reading curriculum. We also provides on-site support as well as workshops to assist teachers with execution of the curriculum. In parallel, we run REACH Reading Club which aims to help students learn English through reading top-notch books, equipping them with listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills necessary for English proficiency.
We have over 18 years of experience in running Education business and charities in Hong Kong and we are now seeking like-minded people who share the same vision and passion to join us as either Co-Founder or our newly formed Advisory Committee to help take REACH to the next stage.
You do not need to have any prior experience in Education or running NGOs. We are looking for partners who can contribute new ideas, perspectives, operation model, fund-raising capabilities and are willing to commit for the long-term on either part-time or full-time basis. We look forward to having you join us this amazing journey!
