Uplifters, www.uplifters-edu.org, is an award-winning charity dedicated to empowering underprivileged communities with online education and peer coaching.
We were established in 2018 with the mission to empower migrant domestic workers to make their migration successful. Our core services combine technology with human warmth to enable personal growth. Since our establishment, more than 10,000 domestic workers have enrolled in our signature programme, Dare to Dream.
We have two legal entities, one based in Hong Kong and the other in Singapore. You will oversee both entities.
Your mission: Enable Uplifters to grow sustainably.
Full-time position or 4 days a week

To do so, you will:
1. Raise Uplifters’ profile and mobilize financial support and strategic partnerships to sustain growth, including oversight of all fundraising efforts, grant applications, and donor management.
2. Proactively scout for new fundraising opportunities, apply for relevant grants, and manage relationships with existing and potential donors.
3. Oversee Uplifters’ finances to ensure proper allocation of funds and long-term financial sustainability, including close monitoring of cash flow.
4. Ensure the smooth execution of all HR, finance, and administrative functions.
5. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and implement internal policies as needed. Ensure strong governance by preparing and attending Board meetings alongside the CEO, and ensuring timely and accurate minutes and follow-ups.
6. Support the CEO in recruiting and managing staff, board members, and volunteers.
7. Ensure all staff have clear succession plans and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key processes.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside and report directly to the CEO. In this leadership role, you will be at the heart of our ambitious mission to help migrant domestic workers break the intergenerational cycle of poverty and turn their migration journey into a successful and empowering experience.
What you will do in details
All responsibilities cover Uplifters operations in both Hong Kong and Singapore (two legal entities)
Development & brand building
- Assist in raising Uplifters’ profile and securing key partnerships for our programmes or financial sustainability.
-Attend networking events and ecosystem events in Hong Kong.
Fundraising & grants management
- Lead grant-writing, develop pitch decks, concept notes, attend meetings and events and actively network with potential funders, manage grant reporting
-Manage the relationship with funders at every stage of the donor journey.
-Maintain the donor and key stakeholders database with contact details.
Operational Management
:
- Ensure proper bookkeeping (invoices, receipts, bills, monthly bank reconciliation). If more resourceeffective it could be done with accounting firms). Handle cheque and cash in Hong Kong.
-In charge of purchases, and management of key third party administrative and operational service providers (e.g., IT consultant, landlord, auditor/company secretary, legal advisor, inland revenue).
Financial Management:
- Prepare annual budgets in conjunction with the CEO, adjust and run various scenarios throughout the year as needed.
-Manage financial reporting that includes monthly financial reports for CEO and Board of Directors (P&L against budget, Balance Sheet, Expenses records)
-Coordinate and facilitate the annual audit process with external auditors
Legal management & governance
:
- Review contracts (with the support of legal advisors, as needed);
-Ensure Uplifters complies with all regulatory filings.
-Ensure Board meetings are adequately prepared, minutes and resolutions signed and filed
-Prepare new policies as needed (anti-money laundering, financial reserves, anti-modern slavery, etc.)
Human Resources:
- Oversee the organisation’s human resources processes and policies, including keeping the employee handbook up to date
-Manage payroll, MPF processing and leaves-tracker through our software Talenox.
-Support staff in creating SOPs for their responsibilities and ensure job descriptions stay up to date
Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Contribute to reporting and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
-Prepare the internal monthly recap
Assist with ad-hoc projects and support teammates as needed.
Requirements
● Fluency in written and spoken English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
● 7 to 10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 5-plus years of financial management experience
● Minimum of a Bachelor Degree.
● High proficiency with Google suite and digitally alert, willing to learn to use new softwares.
● Strong cross-cultural understanding and experience.
Compensation/Terms
All staff must be present at the occasional workshops and gatherings we organize with our students and communities on Sundays (one every 3 month in average) and social functions or workshops on evenings. This position will also require you to attend networking events outside of regular working hours.
Flexi-work policy
Situation/ Visa: ideally able to work in Hong Kong / we can sponsor a visa in Hong Kong if needed
Salary: depending on experience
Generous holiday allowance (4-week paid leave per year on a full time basis in addition to all public holidays gazetted in Hong Kong) and option to ask for unpaid leave.
