The Karen Leung Foundation, a registered Hong Kong charity, is seeking a qualified part-time Social Work (Assistant).
The Karen Leung Foundation (KLF) www.karenleungfoundation.org is working to save lives in Hong Kong by raising awareness of gynecological cancer, educating women to increase rates of early detection and ensuring that women in treatment have access to optimal medical care. Founded in 2013, we are the first and only organization in Hong Kong solely devoted to women's gynecological cancers. To date, the Karen Leung Foundation has raised more than HK $44 million to fight gynecological cancer and help Hong Kong girls and women. The Karen Leung Foundation honors the memory of Karen Leung, a hedge fund trader, who died at age 35 following a diagnosis of metastatic cervical cancer.
About the programme:
“Thriving Through Cancer” is a multi-stakeholder community project designed for survivors of gynaecological and HPV-related cancers. This bilingual program provides comprehensive post-cancer reintegration support for survivors, as well as their partners and caregivers.
Our newly launched initiative offers counselling and rehabilitation services aimed at addressing a wide range of physical and emotional needs—areas often overlooked during treatment and not fully covered by public healthcare.
Responsibilities:
· Provide direct support and guidance, and offer assistance to programme beneficiaries
· Provide consultations to users of online rehabilitation tool
· Implement service plans, monitor progress
· Organize support groups, provide direct support and guidance to beneficiaries
· Liaise with local community stakeholders, including hospitals, NGOs, universities etc. to develop partnerships in the community
· Collaborate with psychologists and educators to ensure comprehensive support and delivery
· Coordinate project activities, assist in collecting evaluation data, and raise mental health awareness within the community
· One year contract with extension
Requirements:
· Social Worker with Diploma/Associate Degree or above in Social Work recognized by Hong Kong Social Workers Registration Board for registration
· Five aggregate years of practice in social or medical service upon assumption of duty
· Good coordination and organizational skills in programmes implementation, monitoring of project funds
· Strong PC skills in MS Word and Excel
· Good written and spoken English and Chinese (MUST)
· Experienced in cancer support and counselling is an advantage
